SECOND HAND ROSE

Second Hand Rose is a re-sale shop. It is being re-located to B39B, which is behind the Chief's Club. It's in the center of this photograph.
Here it is again, from the side by the SRF parking lot.
It's open Tuesday and Thursdays, 9-2. Hey, don't say the name of that van wrong!
The entrance you go into.

There is children's clothing, adult clothing, toys, books, assorted plates, and crap people aren't willing to ship back to the states.

But, one of my sayings is, "Some people's crap is other people's treasure."
Then you have to walk down the hall, even to drop off donations.

With a base this large, you'd think the selection would be better. But with the inconvenient hours to drop-off, most people just put stuff in their tower's main area, and people grab it for free. You'll also see 'multi-family garage sales' at the towers. Maybe it's from all this free stuff that people leave, but usually it's a few town house people getting rid of their stuff. You can get some good deals.
And then...
viola! My good friend, Javon, who is here PCS'd for PSNS works here. And Bobbie, who finds the most amazing deals. She cruises through once a week.

Off-base, there is a place called 'Book Off Hard Off.' It is in the Heisei area of Yokosuka. Okay, now I'm just showing off... That means it is (from base) beyond AVE. It is between highway 16 and Yokosuka Kaigan Dori (Yokosuka Beach Boulevard... the one you go on to go to HOMES, LIVING and AVE). This is like a large GOODWILL. If you can figure out size by looking at clothes, you'll find some awesome stuff.

Out 'on the economy,' for reasonably priced kids clothes, I like Uniqlo. There is a small store in Daiei (2nd floor?), a larger one at More's City (8th floor?) and there is one at HOMES, as well. it's kinda like Gap or Old Navy clothes, with Old Navy prices. Look low on the ends at the More City store for great deals. LIVIN sometimes has okay prices for clothes for kids, as well.

Some clothes for kids are pricey here, but you can find the CUTEST stuff. Children's shoes tend to be a wider size, and I like it, as they're easier to slip on and off. Well, DUH, this is JAPAN!!!

Another store on base that is worth checking out, also conveniently located at the north end of the building that houses Sbarro's is Takusan Treasures. Think Pier Imports run by private buyers. Asian stuff, reasonable prices, and profits go to charity. They're not open all the time, either. However, if you're not here during the Spring or Fall NEX Bazaar, it is a great place to buy those Asian items you want at a reasonable price.
